# Built-in genome index update for felis catus

Hi,  
I am working on felis catus genome.  
There is a 9th version of the felis catus genome. however in galaxy I can only see the 8th version.  
When is the update coming for felis catus?  
Would it cause any issue if I were to upload felcat9th files and make the bwa mapping?

Hi @nuket_bilgen

This genome is already on the list to be updated at usegalaxy.\* servers, but that is part of a larger project and it won’t be completed for some time.

Meanwhile, you could source the genome fasta (soft-masked version) from UCSC [https://genome.ucsc.edu](https://genome.ucsc.edu), upload to Galaxy, and use it as a custom genome directly with tools.
