# FTP file download error (history archive)

Hello,  
I’m trying to download the entire history from Galaxy through FTP. I first exported the history to the FTP remote site, and then tried to connect to [galaxy.eu](http://galaxy.eu) through WinSCP using the parameters shown in screenshot #1. But I had problems downloading the file because of permission issues (screenshot #2). Could you help me?

Hi @Lu_Yin,  
the current FTP configuration doesn’t allow downloading files from Galaxy by using the FTP protocol.

Hi @gallardoalba,

I’ve read that the idea of FTP downloads was already proposed few years back in: [Enhancement: Add more download options for datasets and histories · Issue #2968 · galaxyproject/galaxy · GitHub](https://github.com/galaxyproject/galaxy/issues/2968). Any updates on that? Download large histories directly from galaxy usually fails.
