# Is it possible to pass files to galaxy app during startup

As the topic name states, I am wondering if it’s possible to somehow pass files during the Galaxy application startup instead of uploading them? Files that I want to upload are on remote serve and it’s not possible to upload them with browser upload feature (on the same host I will run Galaxy application)… Also, I would like to make a docker image from your latest stable version and it would be best if I somehow can mount all those files into the galaxy docker container.

Hi @heisenberg

Local file browsing is only one way to get data into Galaxy.

1. Upload with public remote file URL’s. This works at any Galaxy server.
2. Add files to Data Libraries. This works at Galaxy servers where you are an admin. [Scripts & Tricks — Galaxy Project 22.05.1 documentation](https://docs.galaxyproject.org/en/master/admin/useful_scripts.html?highlight=data+library)
