Hi, may I ask a favor that if anyone could put the newly launched BN rat genome assembly GRCr8 (if possible also the other two assemblies? Rat UTH\_Rnor\_SHR\_Utx and Rat UTH\_Rnor\_WKY\_Bbb\_1.0?) into the Galaxy reference genome list? There are a few changes in the rat GRCr8 compared to the former rt7.2 assembly. Which would be interesting to map with my RNA sequencing data. Thanks in advance!

Hi @daikez

I’ve logged the request with the our team. Next time we are building large genomes, this may make the list. [Consider adding more Rat assemblies · Issue #72 · galaxyproject/idc · GitHub](https://github.com/galaxyproject/idc/issues/72)

**But you do not need to wait!** Galaxy includes a **Custom Genome** functionality that you can use right now with any genome. Load up the fasta and reference annotation and use both with tools directly by choosing reference data “from the history” on tool forms. How to → [FAQ: How to use Custom Reference Genomes?](https://training.galaxyproject.org/training-material/faqs/galaxy/reference_genomes_custom_genomes.html)

Hope this helps! 🙂
