# Tool to calculate variance between replicates

What tool can I use in Galaxy to check for variance between my replicates to know if I need to exclude anyone from my analysis?

Hi @NIKITA_JHAVERI,  
you can calculate the variance of each replicate (e.g. for each featureCounts output) by using the **Datamash** tool. As an alternative approach, you can visualize the variability of each replicate by using a boxplot graph. Although it doesn’t provide information about variances, it provides other measures of spread, such as the IQR and range. In [this history](https://usegalaxy.eu/u/gallardoalba/h/boxplot-rna-seq) is detailed how to generate it.
