Cannot upload FASTQ files: "Action requires account activation" despite being logged in

I’m using usegalaxy.org and signing in with my Google account (admin redacted).

I can successfully log in, and my account appears to be active:

  • Storage Dashboard shows 10.8 GB used of 268.4 GB (4%)
  • I can access my User Preferences and Storage Dashboard.

However, when I upload FASTQ files:

  • The upload progresses normally (often to 100%).

  • Then the dataset changes to:

    “Action requires account activation.”

Earlier I also saw:

  • “History is not owned by user.”
  • “Execution paused because you were over your disk quota…”

The quota issue appears incorrect because my Storage Dashboard shows only 4% usage.

I’ve already tried:

  • Logging out and back in with Google
  • Creating a new history
  • Deleting and re-uploading the files
  • Confirming I’m logged in
  • Confirming I have available storage

Could someone please check whether my account is fully activated and whether there is a server-side issue preventing uploads?

Welcome @Michelle_Theus

If this is a new account, and you used Google Auth to register, the account was likely not activated due to a known bug we are working on. More details are in this topic if you are curious:

I was able to locate your account and can see that it is not activated yet. I’ve sent you a new activation email and another with more notes about what to do.

Let’s follow up by email to keep your account details private! I’ll also remove your email address from your post here.

I’m glad you wrote in and our apologies for the temporary issues!
