FASTA Filter tool error

Good afternoon, I have been trying to use the Fasta filter tool to find specific sequences containing a particular motif. This screen was done on Fasta converted data from a Fastaq file generated via amplicon sequencing on the illumina platform. I used the tool first on some data newly converted and when I got the error message I also did the screen on an old FASTA file which had been screened in the past with the tool successfully (a couple of month ago), but this now has failed again. I have indicated the error message below which hopefully will be useful to understand what is happening. Thanks for any help regarding this or any other suggestions on how I could screen my data.

Dataset Error Report

An error occurred while running the tool toolshed.g2.bx.psu.edu/repos/galaxyp/filter_by_fasta_ids/filter_by_fasta_ids/2.3.

Tool standard error:

/bin/bash: warning: setlocale: LC_ALL: cannot change locale (C.UTF-8)

I am also facing the same issues.

I’m also seeing this error in a few tools that I have previously had no issues with. The file seems to process fine but I have to download the file and re-upload it to work on them further. Not sure if there are any work arounds, these errors are annoying as they interupt workflows.

I have the same problem trying to filter out some sequences in introns from a Fasta file.

Thank you all for your comment, still nothing back from the galaxy team but I guess these are minor too so the problem might not be on their radar yet.

Hi everyone,

the underlying issue is the same as in Locale error when running tools - #4 by wm75

@nate another tool for your list :worried:

@joel sorry for not spotting your issue earlier and many of the team were busy with the yearly Galaxy conference.

Thank you for getting back to me Wolfang and no problem for the delay. BW Joel

@Joel your specific tool is now working again on usegalaxy.org.
Sorry that this has taken a while, but we are rolling out fixes for many tools affected by this issue atm.
