increase galaxy space

Hi, How to a request more space on Galaxy? (apart from deleting files as i go along). Would be great to have around >250gb space or more (happy to pay towards this too). Thanks

what Galaxy server do you use?
Make sure you purge deleted files in every history. Deleted but not purged files count towards the quota. History menu (the cog wheel icon at the top of the history panel) > Purge Deleted Datasets.

Yes, I deleted and purged them but I was hoping I could get more that 250gb if possible?

This FAQ explains some semi-advanced strategies for managing data on public servers. All of this is GUI based, but Galaxy also has an API if you want to interact that way.

And this FAQ explains options for setting up a server for larger ongoing work, including academic/scientist friendly grant-based and pay-for-use options with low/GUI-based to no administrative set up on your part. That FAQ also points to all choices: some versions can use your own local/institutional resources, others involve commercial resources, and you could do a mix (process smaller jobs locally + send larger jobs off to regional academic cloud clusters).

Galaxy choices

It is fine to keep a single account on any or all of the public free services (for public/sharing purposes, or any other reason), even when working at your own private server. One account on each gives you access to distinct resources: data storage quota, hosted tools, indexed reference data.

If you just need an extra 250 GB – all of the UseGalaxy.* servers offer about that or more as a default for everyone, so that is at least 1 TB of free storage before including the other resources at the remainder of public sites (138 total as of today). Moving data between servers is easy and common.
