Jobs remain in "new" state since Tuesday maintenance on usegalaxy.eu

Hello,

I’m experiencing an issue on usegalaxy.eu since the scheduled maintenance on Tuesday at around 14:00 (CEST).

Before the maintenance, everything was working normally. Since then, I have not been able to run any jobs.

I have tested several different tools, including:

  • MLST

  • fastp

  • Shovill

In every case, the jobs remain in the “new” state indefinitely. They never start running and there is no standard output or standard error.

For example:

  • MLST (tool version 2.22.0)

    • Job state: new

    • Stdout: empty

    • Stderr: empty

    • Job API ID: 4838ba20a6d867651dbb793aefc5ca9d

  • Shovill (tool version 1.4.2+galaxy1)

    • Job state: new

    • Stdout: empty

    • Stderr: empty

    • Job API ID: 4838ba20a6d8676545f3cf80bb4287c2

  • fastp (tool version 1.3.6+galaxy0)

    • Job state: new

    • Stdout: empty

    • Stderr: empty

    • Job API ID: 4838ba20a6d8676575c9778186e59816

I have also tested this with multiple independent usegalaxy.eu accounts, and the behavior is exactly the same on each account.

Is there a known issue with the job scheduler or the compute backend since Tuesday’s maintenance? Or is there anything else I should check on my side?

Thank you for your help.

Welcome @ehmig

Your question was queued so maybe the queued job have started up already?

I started up a test history too, to check. A run for fastp started up pretty quickly!

If the jobs are still queued, I would be curious about how these were executed (directly, or part of a workflow) and how many at a time (some will process, then the rest, as resources are available).

Please also remember: there is a limit of one account per person at each public Galaxy server. These are accepted terms of service for everyone: see the note on the account registration form and in every email with the activation link. We are academic projects and want everyone to have a fair chance of using the public free clusters. If you or anyone reading has multiple accounts, download your work and delete any excess accounts please (User → Preferences → then scroll down to see Delete Account). For more details see topics tagged with account and FAQ: Can I create multiple Galaxy accounts?
