NCBI BLAST+ blastx and blastp cannot work with new nr_2025-12-03

Hi All,

I got problem with NCBI BLAST+ blastx and blastp (and maybe other like tblastn and tblastx). I aware that we got new database nr_2025-12-03. However, executing this at usegalaxy.eu led to this error.

BLAST Database error: 
No alias or index file found for protein database 
[/data/db/databases/blast/nr/2025-12-03/nr] in search path 
[/data/jwd08/main/094/647/94647978/working:/data/db/databases/blast/taxdb:]

I hope this can be fixed.

Thanks for reporting the problem! I can reproduce an error with the NR 2025 index at UseGalaxy.eu. I’ll test the other servers but meanwhile, let’s get this reported! – update: the other UseGalaxy servers do not host this one yet, so the issue is new and limited in scope. Good! Catching things easier is useful!

My error was slightly different but I think you are correct about some part of the index not being configured appropriately yet.

I’ve open an issue ticket here to track the correction! :hammer_and_wrench:

If you would like to post back a small history with your example, the developers can consider your use case too. Or, you can send in a bug report from the red error dataset, and include a link to this topic for context in the comments, and they’ll be able to link things up that way.
