NCBI Eukaryotic Genome Annotation Pipeline (EGAP)

I would be highly obliged if some could help me annotate the Genome. Please reply and we will connect. Thanks

Anyone willing to offer some help

Hello @Attiq_Rehman

Are you asking about this tool at UseGalaxy.org?

  • NCBI EGAPx annotates eukaryotic genomes(Galaxy Version 0.5.0+galaxy0) (link at ORG)

If yes, the tool is still experimental and not quite ready for production (general) use.

The Help on the tool form explains the usage and a demonstration example is included. You could explore that to see how the development project functions. Have you tried this yet?

If your larger goal is to annotate an assembly, then following the protocols here instead would be a another choice that you could use right now in Galaxy.

Would you like to share more about your goals? Thanks!

Thank you Jennaj, I have not tried yet. look bit complicated for me non bioinformatician. Our goal is to annotate genome available in GenBank. I requested Refseq but they said Protzoan annotation is not their preference at the moment. Would any chance you can help?

Hi @Attiq_Rehman

Thank you for for explaining more! We don’t offer bioinformatic services, only the platform and tools for scientist to run their own analysis. Annotating a genome is a common task and we definitely have the training, tools, and computational resources for this type of project, all made accessible for biologists.

If you have questions as you work through any tutorial, or technical issues with your own data later on, you can ask here by sharing what you have so far and we’ll try to help!

I would suggest starting with an orientation.

Then, proceed to working with your own species. This Maker protocol bundles most of what EPAG is doing.

We have a training event in May if you would like to join us then, too!
