Too many errors: UseGalaxy.org downtime Sept 29 2025 -- Update topic!

Update 9:30 PM EST, Monday Sept 29 2025

The server came back shortly after the last update, and is going well! Please try again now. Any jobs that were previously queued can stay queued. Any errors can be rerun.

Issues with data loading or downloading are likely resolved but we can follow up here if there are still issues. A shared example would be appreciated for context.

Update 5:30 PM EST, Monday Sept 29 2025

Seems to be down again. More updates to follow.

Update 4 PM EST, Monday Sept 29 2025

Some services are starting to return at UseGalaxy.org!

:warning: However, data storage is not expected to be fully stable yet and jobs may queue for longer time frames due to reduced cluster availability, or fail due to unavailable dependencies. We are tracking this closely and will post more information as it is known.

Hello @H1889 and others following

As you have noticed, we are experiencing unexpected infrastructure issues at UseGalaxy.org.

Notice from our hosting site at TACC on Saturday, Sept 27th 2025 via https://tacc.utexas.edu/news/user-updates/107597/

The Texas Advanced Computing Center facilities experienced a site wide power outage at 6:12 am CDT. At this time, admins are on site and working to restore all systems to production

On our side, the service recovered on Sunday, then went offline again a few hours ago today on Monday, September 29th. We are actively working with TACC to restore service.

What to do

Alternative UseGalaxy servers are one option for new work

Once service is restored, we will likely be able to recover the jobs queues, however, failures may require a rerun.

More details to follow. Thank you for your patience!
