Problem converting Wig to BigWig file

I’m trying to convert a Wig to BigWig file using Galaxy. I get an error saying “FATAL: While checking container encryption: could not open image” followed by a link. Can anyone help me with this?

Hi @lgarrett-sinha
What Galaxy server do you use? I tested wig to bigwig conversion on Galaxy Australia and don’t see any issue. My procedure: Edit Attributes (pencil icon) > switch to Datatypes tab in the middle window > in Convert to Datatype section select Target Datatype as bigwig > click Create Dataset.
Kind regards,
Igor

I am unsure which Galaxy server it is, but I am located in the USA. I have successfully converted files before, but with this dataset I get the following error:

FATAL: While checking container encryption: could not open image /cvmfs/singularity.galaxyproject.org/all/ucsc-wigtobigwig:447–hd8417b0_2: the image’s architecture (arm64) could not run on the host’s (amd64)

It seems that some kind of architecture called arm64 is incompatible. But I don’t know what that means or how to change it

Hi @lgarrett-sinha Check the URL of your browser window. The first part is how we uniquely identify Galaxy servers. Many use the /cvmfs resource.

We had identified a new problem that was introduced with another tool that seems a bit similar, but do not have any examples yet when using this tool. Details here New errors when running datasets_download_genome 16.6.0+galaxy0 · Issue #6056 · galaxyproject/tools-iuc · GitHub

And, it is very difficult to troubleshoot errors like this one without an example. Especially if you think it is a server or tool issue, and our tests cannot cannot reproduce it. Please see the banner at this forum for how to do this. A shared history link that contains a simple example would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi @lgarrett-sinha
You can make the history accessible and post teh URL here. If you are not comfortable with data sharing, copy one dataset into a new history and share it. History sharing: Hisotry options (three horizontal bars icon at the top right corner of teh history panel) > Share or Publish > Make history accessible - set to Yes (in the middle window) > Copy the URL.

In meantime you can convert the file on Galaxy Australia usegalaxy.org.au or try Galaxy Europe usegalaxy.eu. It is OK to have accounts on different Galaxy servers, but only one account per server. Data can be copied directly between Galaxy servers. The procedure: click at name of dataset to be copied in Galaxy history > click at Copy Link (chain icon). Go to target Galaxy server, open Upload menu, switch to Paste/Fetch Data tab, paste the URL, give it a proper name and hit Start.

Kind regards,
Igor

Just closing this out – the other issue referenced above is resolved, and turns out to probably not related to this specific issue. I’m going to close this out with Igor’s answer, but you can still follow up if needed. We’ll need an example please. Thanks!
