It sounds like you are having trouble getting data into Galaxy? The data Upload step, correct?

If you would like to share a screenshot that would be helpful. Try to capture as much of your browser window with the Galaxy application shown (not just the history panel). Expand the datasets that are grey please so we can see the metadata.
And, where are you using Galaxy? Is this at a public Galaxy server? Which one? The URL at the top of your browser window is the best way to identify the server. If you capture this in the screenshot above that is good enough, or you can copy/paste it out back in your reply.
