Resolved: Kraken2 temporary cluster failure

Hello,

I have been able to run Kraken2 multiple times in the past days, in particular, on the same sample with different parameters. This is to say that the job used to run fine.

However, I have tried 2-3 times in the last hour (on the same input) and the job fails immediately with no error reported in the “Error” page (There is no context to provide a response), nor in the “Details” page (the standard error is empty and no exit code is provided). One of the job ids is bbd44e69cb8906b5bb29449615d34f4a, if you want to look into it. Other tools on the platform seem to work fine.

Is this a known issue? I looked up previous topics within GalaxyHelp, and similar situations happened in the past, but seemed to be transient. Are the usegalaxy.org servers particularly overloaded at the moment?

I’d really appreciate if you could look into this. I am aware of at least another user experiencing the same.

Thank you very much

Welcome @GBaldi

Yes, the most current version of Kraken2 is failing.

  • Kraken2 assign taxonomic labels to sequencing reads(Galaxy Version 2.17.1+galaxy0)

Try using the prior version instead for now. This is likely what you were originally using.

  • Kraken2 assign taxonomic labels to sequencing reads(Galaxy Version 2.1.3+galaxy2)

Thanks for asking! Let’s leave this topic open until resolved. :hammer_and_wrench:

Thank you for your reply!

I have been able to run the previous version successfully, and haven’t checked anymore on the newest version. Feel free to close this topic.

Hi @GBaldi

Update: :rocket: We think that all versions are working now!

My test is still running but it would have failed by now if the same original issue was going on. Please also give it a try if you want to and let us know how it goes!

Thanks for reporting the original problem, and also for your updates! Very helpful feedback.
