Troubleshooting: Action requires account activation

I get the error “Action requires account activation” when submitting a job.
Could you please activate my account?

Have you created an account already? If so, check your email that you used for registration. These can get sorted into Spam or Trash, so looking there may be needed.

The account activation email will contain a link. If you registered more than 6 hours ago, you may need to send yourself a new link!

Use the Password Reset function on the login form. Be sure to type in your email address exactly how it was originally set up.

  1. Go to UseGalaxy.org. (or the server where you registered! accounts at different Galaxy servers are distinct!)

  2. Add in the email address you used for registration.

  3. Click on the reset link as shown in the screenshot below.

  4. Check your mail for a new email from us. Click on the link to open a browser window or copy the URL and paste it into a browser address bar. The instructions will guide you through where to input your new password. This also activates your account!

If you have any problems about how to do this, please ask! We may need to know the server URL where you created your account to route you to the right people to reach through email (better for account administrative help requiring privacy).

  • are you sure, the email you’re using is the one you used for the original registration?
  • are you trying to reset the password on the server on which you registered originally, if so, which server is that?
  • have you checked your spam folder for the reset email?

If all of this doesn’t help, contact the server admins via email.

Hi. It is a yes to all three. I am getting the emails for password-reset in my Inbox (not going to Spam). But resetting the password doesn’t seem to activate the account. I’ll try to reach out to the server admins. Thanks for the suggestion.
