since yesterday I am unable to delete and purge the files, to free up some space. I am selecting - purge all deleted content, and the running circle with “processing operation” appears that never disappears. When I refresh the page, the files are still there, I am able to undelete them and use to the analysis. I asked my college to share her credentials with me and the same thing happens in her account.

What happens if you use the functions under User → Preferences → Storage Dashboard?
And just to confirm, this is happening at usegalaxy.org?
mine has also not updated since purging like 60 gb yesterday.
We had lots of data to purge lately so the process took some time. I think most of the space should be freed by now.
