File Transfer VERY SLOW

Trying to move some files from Galaxy.eu to Galaxy.org, going extremely slow or not moving at all.

I’m having maybe a similar issue, I’m trying to move some files from galaxy.eu to galaxy.org, going VERY slow or not moving at all. Usually this has been going fairly fast.

Hi @Jon_Colman

Let’s keep your question distinct. Transfer between servers happens differently than downloads between servers.

The from server is UseGalaxy.eu and the to server is UseGalaxy.org, correct? Is there anything special about this history?

I’ll also run a test. We updated UseGalaxy.org later last night with the new release. Maybe there is a setting that needs to be adjusted. More soon!

Just a standard server-to-server, probably from the update.

Thanks for confirming @Jon_Colman

The transfers I started when testing earlier have completed. Would you also please try again and let us know if you can get this to work now? My guess is the restarts interrupted the connection.

Still EXTREMELY slow. I had 4 sets that I was moving from .eu to .org, I’m not sure how long but it’s been over an hour at least my start time shows as Thursday Jun 11th 12:43:38 2026 GMT-7, I’m not sure how long, it’s 2:15pm here Pacific Time so probable 1.5 hours. Two sets hasn’t even started to run, the two that are running each has two files about 3GB each + 1 small a few megabyte. Only the one small one has gone through.

Generally this goes fairly fast.

Yes, the UseGalaxy.org server is undergoing some changes, so things may be a bit slower for anything not related to running new jobs as this is the priority when keeping things up during the update cycle. History transfers and possibly clearing out purged data will take longer.

My transfers on Wednesday took a few hours. These weren’t large but had to queue.

This is temporary. The update should wrap up sometime next week and get back to normal.

Sounds good, hopefully the new updates will improve the platform.
