Help with installing bzlib 1.06

Hello,

I finally tracked down a lot of my tool dependencies errors on my local GALAXY installation to a dependency called bzlib 1.06, and it appears to fail to install due to the lack of a MAKEFILE. Can anyone help me out as to how to solve this issue? TIA

The compressed file at http://www.bzip.org/1.0.6/bzip2-1.0.6.tar.gz which contains the recipe source to be compiled seems to be broken. I am unable to decompress it using various utilities.

As I recommended here: Install fastqvalidator, I’d go for a different tool.

THIS IS SO EXHAUSTING. NO. NO. NO. BZLIB IS REQUIRED FOR PYTHON 2.7, WHICH IS REQUIRED FOR JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING ELSE. GALAXY IS FUNDAMENTALLY BROKEN.

Everything in toolshed prefixed package_ has been deprecated for years, please use new tools and corresponding Conda dependencies.

I am sorry but you are not listening and screaming at me will not help you.

Okay. That makes more sense. Sorry - but installing and using GALAXY is difficult - there’s NO documentation on which packages to use and not use.If some of these packages are no longer used - why are these deprecated packages still available?

I guess the better question is how does one insure that only CONDA is used?

TIA
