Action requires account activation error but no activation link was sent to email

Welcome @jennielugw

We have a topic here explaining some details. In short, registration with Google Authentication had a bug introduced! We are correcting with priority but it is still outstanding as of today.

I found your account at UseGalaxy.org and activated the account for you! Please try the runs again and let us know if this was enough.

Our apologies for the confusion!!

Account activated. thank you

Great! Glad that worked out!

@jennaj Hello. I am having this same issue. Can you please help to activate my account? Thank you

Welcome @jasperzee

I was able to find your account at UseGalaxy.org!

Part of the correction is in place, so I was able to send you a new account activation emai.

Please check your inbox, spam, and trash folders for the email from us. The message should include a CLICK HERE link. You can click that directly, or copy/paste the link into a web browser.

Account creation has two steps and works the same at all Galaxy servers.

  1. Register the account in a web browser at the server you want to use.
  2. Confirm the account from the email sent by that same server.

We can activate the account on our end if really needed, but confirming that you can receive emails from the server is important so let’s try that first now that this part is functional. Those same emails are also used for bug reports, account notifications, and tool/workflow notifications, so it is best to try this first.

If it turns out that our email are being rejected entirely, that filtering might be happening on the other side. Working to make us as a “safe” sender with your institution/provider is one potential solution. Or, you can try with a different email address. You don’t need to start completely over but can go into the account you have now and update the account email address instead under User → Preferences → Manage Information. This should trigger another confirmation email for the change.

Please let us know how this goes! :rocket:
