Next time the UI seems to not update (should be rare!), you can click on the Galaxy HOME icon in the top left. This fully refreshes your browser window.
The application is updating itself but sometimes a specific web browser application, or a custom preference in that browser, can delay or even block the communications. Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari tend to work best. Cookies should be enabled. Using “incognito” is likely to have more problems than a regular window.
Galaxy is trying to make sure that you are you to protect your data and account and it needs to be able to communicate with you browser for this to work well. This is a bit different from other applications that are “tracking you”. We are academic and not tracking you for anything except for what you doing in your analysis project during your current session.
