The current instructions can be found in the RTD’s for Planemo. In short, the yml will represent your own secure credentials for the account you create at the tool shed (s). The first step is creating the account, then you customize your yml following the instructions in here.
The other view is mostly a legacy view, but we keep it to not break search engines – I’ll adjust that page to help make it a bit more clear and remove the dead links! Some of the content has since been rolled into Planemo functionality directly.
So, I’ll fix this up!
Thanks for bringing this up, and follow up questions are welcome.
I started from scratch by deleting my ~/.planemo.yml and rerunning planemo config_init which resulted in a very different formatted file. Then I filled in my username and key for the testtoolshed and seem to have been successful in creating the repo on testtoolshed! Now I’ll see how far I can get in actually testing it with my local Galaxy server.
Glad you got this far! The Test Toolshed was upgraded recently and the docs will catch up once that is done. Any questions about it you can post back here, but we also have a development chat for quick technical questions. Either place is fine and reaches the same people.
I have successfully created a repo on the testtoolshed and I guess my next step is to create it on the (main)toolshed. Following the instructions here: Publishing to the Tool Shed — Planemo 0.75.31.dev0 documentation
Can someone explain why I get the following errror?
(planemo_venv) (base) M1P~/git/pcstudio_shed$ planemo shed_create --shed_target toolshed
Could not update physicell_studio
Failed to find repository for owner/name rheiland/physicell_studio
Failed to find category InteractiveTools
I have generated different keys in my ~/.planemo.yml for toolshed and testtoolshed entries. And I only provide the “key” for each, not “email/password” (they are commented out). I assume this is the correct approach?
I’m also confused by the different interfaces for the toolshed and testtoolshed (see different URLs) - attached. I’m a little concerned that my duplicate “rheiland” accounts on the testtoolshed (as I reported elsewhere) may be causing some confusion (with different emails, but presumably the “API keys” avoid that confusion).
I logout of the toolshed, thinking I might be able to login with my other username/email (gmail). I can’t. So I log back in with my heiland@iu.edu email. Then I discover that I’m in this state: the “User” menu has “Login” or “Register”, but no “Logout”, and when I select “Login” it tells me “You are already logged in”. This makes no sense to me.
I’m stumped with this but I’ve cross-posted over to the admin group. Hopefully they’ll get back here with a working solution! → You're invited to talk on Matrix
