How can I convert an excel file to a tabulat file in order to genrate a volcano plot with galaxy?

Export the data as plain text, then Upload that file to Galaxy. Allow Galaxy to detect the datatype. A plain text file will be interpreted as a “tabular” datatype in Galaxy if it meets the format criteria: columns of data, one tab between columns, no empty blank lines, no extra whitespace at the start, end, or within columns.
If Galaxy does not detect that datatype, double-check the file content. Tools in the Text Manipulation tool group can fix some formatting problems within Galaxy, but not all. Excel can introduce odd hidden characters into files (one example: soft returns). Those need to be remedied before loading the data.
