Hello,
We are trying to upload FASTQ files to GigaGalaxy to use SOAPdenovo, but we are facing issues with files larger than 40MB. We are using lftp, and while small files upload successfully, larger files fail or the transfer gets interrupted.
We have tried:
Using put in lftp to summarize uploads.
Checking our internet connection (stable and high-speed).
Verifying the FTP server details (ftp.gigagalaxy.net).
Is there a size limit for file uploads via FTP on GigaGalaxy?
Are there alternative ways to upload large files to GigaGalaxy?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
There might be something special going on at that server. It is hosted by a group associated with the publication site but who exactly is administrating it isn’t clear. I can say that the version of Galaxy is much older and most of the linked resources appear to be outdated (including the administrator links on the homepage!).
You could try following the links we know about on the server contact card. These are also over (6-8 years old) but maybe follow the publication and reach out to the corresponding authors?
I just sent an email to some people that might be able to route your question to the correct current administrators. If/when they write back, I’ll update here.
I also just recreated an account to see if the account confirmation email contained a contact email address for the server administrators (since it was not included on the homepage). That email hasn’t arrived! If you do have one, then you might be able to find the information that way.
For now the best advice is to use the methods that are currently working for you. You can try using a resume function with FTP Uploads, too, if the connection is still live.
Thank you for your response and for reaching out to the relevant contacts regarding this issue.
We wanted to let you know that we have not received a confirmation email upon account creation, so unfortunately, we do not have any direct contact information for the server administrators.
We truly appreciate your assistance and will wait for any updates you may receive from your inquiry.
Hi @Guillermo_Giaj_Merle Nothing yet back from contact I tried, and my account confirmation email never arrived either. It may not be supported beyond whatever is available now. I guess we’ll see! If I do get word, I’ll update back here.
