usegalaxy.org's job concurrency limits and maximum allowed run times have been decreased in order to ensure enough resources are available to students participating in the GTN Smörgåsbord.

The Galaxy Training Network (GTN) Smörgåsbord will be running from Monday, February 15 through Friday, February 19 across all usegalaxy.* servers, primarily usegalaxy.org, usegalaxy.eu, and usegalaxy.org.au. In order to ensure adequate resources are available for the over 1,000 students who have signed up to participate in the course, we have drastically reduced resources available to regular jobs on usegalaxy.org during this period.

Users can now only execute three single core jobs and 1 multicore job at a time. In addition, single core jobs are limited to 8 hours (or less depending on the amount of memory allocated for a tool, but most will receive 8) of allowed runtime. Multi core jobs are limited to 12 hours. These limits will be reverted to their normal levels (36 hours of walltime in most cases) after Friday.

Because of these limitations, anyone using usegalaxy.org but not participating in the GTN Smörgåsbord event is encouraged to delay their work on usegalaxy.org until after Friday, if possible.

Thanks for your understanding, and thanks for using Galaxy!
