VCF file save/export from galaxy

Hello,
i am trying to export/save my VCF files from my history in Galaxy to my computer so that i can use these files for other analysis. I tried the download route, but then when i tried to upload these files it is not working maybe it the format it was saved. please advise

Hi @Halima789
Just to clarify: you downloaded a VCF file, but you cannot upload the same file to Galaxy. Have you edited the file? If yes, what editor was used? Was the output saved in plain text mode or rtf? What kind of error do you see during upload?
Kind regards,
Igor

it is saves as shown in the image. Please see attached image. i can import it and upload individually. The problem I am having is when I upload as collection using the rule based it always gives me error due to duplicate identifiers. how do I fetch /paste these sample in the rule-based upload? Does it have to be in a different format?
thank you

I see. So, the issue is with the rule based upload. The error message indicates that duplicated identifiers were used. It looks like a job setup issue. Make sure you do not have space characters in identifiers and all identifiers are unique.

Can you upload the files individually and create a list (collection) in Galaxy? If you have many files, upload into a new history, select all datasets and create a collection (list).
Kind regards,
Igor

thank you
Can i rename the files?
Also, with regard to the second point creating a new history and selecting data sets to create a collection list, how do i do that? please excuse my ignorance :grinning: I recently stated using galaxy
thank you

Do you mean files stored on your computer? Yes, but test it on one file, just in case, especially if you use Windows.

Find a grey bar above datasets in history panel. On the right end it has a cog wheel icon, on the left - tick or check mark. If you hover mouse cursor over it, you’ll see Select items. Click at it. It activates dataset selection mode. Click at select all. You’ll see For all selected pull-down menu. You’ll find Build dataset list option in it.
Hope this helps
Igor

I can see the build option after selection. Thank you so much
