Result files were deposited in different storage (from 30-day storage to permanent storage)

Hi,
I uploaded my files to the 30-day storage and ran my workflow. However, I noticed that several result files were deposited into the permanent storage. Why did this happen, and how can I fix this issue?

Hi @Lee_Wonsik

When you start a workflow run, you can choose where to write the outputs. If you don’t set anything at runtime, then “defaults” are used: account level or history level.

Find the options under the gear icon at the top of the workflow launch form. You can toggle the different options to get instructions for each combination.

Then, actually clicking on those database icons will bring up a pop-up where you can make the choice.

Example

Starting from here, where the database icon is at the default. Those defaults can be difficult to predict but in general your permanent storage will be used for a default unless you set something else under User → Preferences (account level) or for a specific history (all new outputs will write into that specific history how you set it away from default).

Then making a choice here

Results in updated content back under the database icon

It sounds like your workflow was run without some of this specified but you can try this next time to see how it works.

Last time I went through all the choices it was working Ok but if you have an example of choices: account level, history level, and workflow level that seem to be doing something unexpected, you can share that use case back and I’d be happy to try to replicate and find out where things may be going wrong (including reporting to our devs if needed).

Please let us know if this helps! :hammer_and_wrench:
