Dataset collection files queueing forever

I am trying to upload some data to a collection from local files and they have been waiting to run for about 4 days. Any ideas as to why this is? It was working perfectly fine for months up until last week and now no files will upload.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @oliverb12

Yes, the UseGalaxy.eu server is very busy. Everyone should get some data processed but things will be a bit slower overall.

How to see what the server is processing was discussed recently here with screenshots. → Kraken2 and Spades not running - #7 by jennaj.

And if you follow the link to that chat for the EU server (very bottom of the homepage) you’ll find some more discussion about why: temporary limited resources due to server reconfiguration. This is also true at UseGalaxy.org. I am not sure about UseGalaxy.org.au.

Then we have an guide here that links to more resources and tips. → Getting Data into Galaxy

And there is an additional option for large batch file loading here. → GitHub - galaxyproject/galaxy-upload: Galaxy Upload Utility for the CLI.

What to do

  1. Allow queued job to stay queued.
  2. Consider using URLs instead. This will make it less likely that a connection between your personal computer and the server will drop out.
  3. Put the files into a cloud account and load from there. User → Preferences → Manage Information. Third Party Identities - #2 by wm75
  4. Explore the command-line option since this is a direct-to-your-history function and usually works well with really large batches of data.
  5. Reach out at the EU chat and share one of your job api identifiers (i-icon view) and maybe the administrators can look this up and provide specific feedback.

We know this is frustrating for everyone! The new configurations should be worth it and speed things up going forward into the new year. :rocket:
