Retired ensemble genes -- should I identify possible successors

Hello,

I’m trying to get DEs all from Ensemble Gene ID to detailed symbol and name, but there are some ID not available from annotation. For example, for this id ENSRNOG00000045790 (gene symble: LOC293862), it seems to be retired:

What’s the reason for a gene to be retired? Should I look for possible succesors?

Hi @Danni

You are looking at the right place to find the “why” but nothing was posted there…

Maybe look at your current annotation file in a genome browser, at those same coordinates, and see what you can find? If you did this at UCSC, you could toggle on more tracks and examine the region for more clues.
