I am following the Mapping tutorial. However, unable to download IGV, it just showed “503 Service Unavailable ,No server is available to handle this request.”
Welcome, @G3CCTV5
To make sure we are looking at the same thing, you followed the link in this tutorial
to this Download IGV page
Then what did you do next? And have you tried that again yet? The message you are getting suggests that the service was either down for a short window, or that it was just busy when you tried the first time.
To check about that, I followed the Getting Help link at that other website, and the first topic at their support site is about other people having the same problem, starting around the time you first reported it here. I don’t see a solution yet.
When I test this with the first MacOS option, it works Ok. It seems like that is what another person tried too, and it worked for them. Other people haven’t commented about which OS seems to have problems.
What to do
- Follow that google group, report the problem you are having in that thread, and be sure to note which exact link you are using. That will help the people who are supporting IGV to know where to start troubleshooting.
- Meanwhile, try a different link if you can. The “Java Included” option is probably best for new people but you could try the other to see what happens.
- Move on to the JBrowse section of the tutorial, and come back to the IGV part once the download issue is resolved. If you are doing this as part of course work for a class, you can share the link to this topic with your instructor as a sort of “proof” that there is a problem beyond your control.
Hope this helps, and I hope more that this is resolved on the IGV side soon! If you want to update us about what happens, that would be great!
Problem solved, thanks a lot.
